  • American Idol Season 11 – Who Makes The Top 3?

I have to apologize for not writing about last week’s elimination of one Skylar Laine. I was out of town chaperoning my son and his classmates at his science camp. But I did write a bit of a recap for those of you who came into the season late at Popblerd. I wrote about last night’s performances as well.

Last night’s show was a separation show. It was quite easy to separate the good from the bad. Jessica Sanchez and Joshua Ledet are head and shoulders above Phillip Phillips. And Phillip is head and shoulders above Hollie Cavanagh. When America eliminated Skylar Laine last week, it screwed up the possibility of maybe the best top four in American Idol history. Thanks for that voters.

Check out the performances from Joshua and Jessica below if you didn’t watch last night’s show:

Those performances cemented that Jessica and Joshua are my favorite twosome from any season of American Idol. I put together a poll to see what everyone else thought. Take the poll here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/6C2RDNL.

Now, onto the elimination show to see our top three.

The crew performed California Dreaming at the start of the show. Ryno is going to have to do his ultimate stretch job tonight to get us through this hour. At least Jenny Lo is performing tonight. (So is David Cook.)

He brings up Phillip Phillips first. Ryno pulled the move on him making him believe he made it, but he wasn’t going to give out the results just yet. Poor Double P looked quite embarrassed.

Hollie was next and Jimmy Iovine pretty much called her out for being the worst of the four. I’ve been saying that all season long. Ryno won’t spoil it. We don’t know if she’s safe or not yet either. Looks like we’re waiting until the end for all of them.

David Cook is performing his latest song. He probably doesn’t like Adam Lambert very much. If not for Lambert, he would’ve been the only good singer doing anything from the last five years of the show. But Lambert pretty much blows him away. I hope we see Lambert between here and the finale.

Joshua is next and Jimmy basically called his version of It’s A Man’s Man’s Man’s World the best of the season.

And finally, young Jessica comes to center stage. Jimmy didn’t think her Etta James song was the right move, but thought the Jennifer Holliday song was fantastic and said that Tommy Motolla told him she was the real deal. Please, keep Tommy Motolla away from young Jessica.

It’s Jenny Lo time. She’s singing Dance Again. Okay, she’s probably not singing live. But she’s Jenny Lo. You don’t really watch her to hear her singing. You just watch her to watch her.

The first person to make the top three is Jessica Sanchez. The next person in the top three is Joshua Ledet. Why do I have a feeling Phillip is leaving us? Please no. Please no.

Phillip Phillips is through! And we have the strongest top three in quite some time. Jasmine Trias, I mean Hollie Cavanagh is gone.

    Seacrest out!

  • American Idol Season 11 – Who Makes The Top 5?

    Katy Perry
We’re coming down to the nitty gritty. Will Hollie finally go home or is my droopy-cheeked Elise done tonight? Or will it be a surprise?

Here were my top and bottom two from last night:

    Top 2
    1. Joshua Ledet
    2. Skylar Laine

    Bottom 2
    1. Hollie Cavanagh
    2. Phillip Phillips

The Queen Experience performed Somebody To Love.

Ryno is going to call everyone down in pairs. He calls down Jessica and Elise. Elise looks worried. She should be. Elise is in the bottom three.

Casey Abrams helps Ryno introduce Stefano. The best I can describe this song (I’m On A Roll) is that he’s doing a terrible Ne-Yo impersonation. I also think he’d finish no better than fifth place in this year’s competition.

Ryno brings up Joshua and Hollie to the center stage. Ryno sends Hollie to hang out with her girl Elise and Joshua is safe.

Katy Perry is on stage performing some song. The best way I can explain her performance is that she’s doing a terrible Stefano impersonation. Just kidding. But I didn’t really get it.

Skylar and Phillip are at center stage now. Skylar is in the bottom three. What? Okay, she won’t last there. Then again, that’s what I said about Colton. But I’m right this time. Skylar is safe. It’s between my droopy-cheeked girl and Hollie.

Give me Elise or give me death!

    Damnit! Elise is going home.

Oh well, I’m sad. Elise deserved to be back for at least one more week. Seacrest (sigh) out.

  • American Idol Season 11 – Who Makes The Top 6 For Real This Time?

As I wrote last night, America must’ve been smokin’ that stuff last week when Jessica Sanchez was nearly eliminated before Jenny Lo and company decided to save her. But there is no save this time. Will America be smokin’ that stuff again?

Here’s my top and bottom 2 from last night:

    Top 2
    1. Skylar
    2. Joshua (edges out Phillip by a some chest hair)

    Bottom 2
    1. Elise
    2. Hollie

I fear that my droopy faced girl Elise is going to be eliminated tonight.

Here’s what I wrote on my Facebook page tonight in Elise’s honor:

Remember her when she was on fire!

The top 7 sing Dancing In The Street. I’m not sure I’ve seen skinnier jeans than the ones Colton is wearing. If he was dancing in the street in those, he’d get got. They’d have to cut the muskrat off his head too.

Ryno brings Joshua and Hollie to the center. Joshua is rightfully through to next week. Hollie is in the bottom three.

There’s been a Taylor Hicks sighting! He looks no older than 65 years old. He introduces Kris Allen, a most definite mistake-winner. Adam Lambert has more talent in his wig than Allen has. And Lambert doesn’t even wear a wig.

Allen is doing a pretty darn good Enrique Iglesias impersonation with this song.

Skylar and Elise are next to center stage. Elise might as well just walk to hang out with Hollie now. She basically said that she thinks she gets the harder critiques because the judges know she’s older and thinks she can take it. How about because you didn’t sing well last night? I know, I know. Elise is my girl. And yes, she’s in the bottom three.

At this point, I fear for Jessica Sanchez’s life because of last week. If the world was fair, Colton and his skinny jeans would be in the bottom three. He was third worst last night.

LMFAO is on stage for whatever reason. Barry Gordy must be proud.

Colton, Phillip, and Jessica are in the center. Jessica is safe! Phillip is safe! The muskrat is in the bottom three. Colton is probably going back to safeland soon. Nope, Elise is safe! My droopy dog. I don’t have to pour out some liquor for her tonight.

Holy cow! Colton has been eliminated. Hollie is the Teflon Don this year. Wow. I shouldn’t be surprised as I thought Colton was one of the worst three last night, but I just figured the teenie boppers would save him.

Goodbye Colton, see you on the flipside.
