No matter where I go, I will always be a New Yorker, and no matter how much time passes, I will still remember 9/11/01 like it was yesterday. Please take a moment over the course of your day to remember the lives that were lost on that day, as well as the lives that have been lost during the attempt to prevent another episode like that from happening again.

I realize that for some people, this is just another day, and I also recognize the need to move on and conduct business as usual. But I’m not gonna lie and say that the fact that there’s been music released on this day (and was supposed to be this year) doesn’t leave a bad taste in my mouth. Nevertheless, I’d be a hypocrite if I didn’t mention music’s ability to act as a soothing balm, both on the actual day, when there was nothing to do except go home and listen to music, and in the days after, when so many of us were trying to make sense of what had happened.

Anyway, believe it or not, as familiar as I am with Ryan Adams’ “New York New York” (and as much as I love it), this is the first time I’ve seen the video for this song. It gives me chills to watch.
