  • The X Factor – Who Makes The Top Four?

I didn’t find Wednesday’s show all that noteworthy. You could maybe say that it was the first time all season long that Josh Krajcik looked like he could go home. Also noticeable was the pandering all the mentors did so that their finalists wouldn’t get kicked off. Simon nearly outright said that Paula and Nicole wouldn’t vote for his female finalists if they were in the final two so that America needed to vote for them. It was quite odd, but probably truthful.

Based on last night, here’s my top 2 and bottom 2:

    Top 2
    Melanie Amaro and Chris Rene

    Bottom 2
    Josh Krajcik and Marcus Canty

Chris Rene is either pulling the wool over our eyes, or he really has something. His vocals are average at best, yet he comes off so sincere and likable, which is carrying him through this season even though it might be slightly undeserving.

Lenny Kravitz opens the show. My man is 47 years old, yet looks like he’s in his mid-30s. I love it when artists play their new single which gets tepid applause because no one knows it, so they have to sing one of their more popular songs so that they get that ovation at the end. Lenny did that one perfectly.

It’s always sad when Mr. Anti-charisma introduces the mentors and their finalists and Paula has to sit at the mentor’s table all by her lonesome.

Let’s get to it. The first person through to next week is Josh Krajcik, so last night didn’t hurt him at all.

The second person through to next week is Chris Rene. Every time Chris goes through, Simon gives a face that says, “I can’t believe this guy is still around.”

Rachel says she’s not confident, but she loves her fans. Marcus says he’ll just have to step up if need be. Melanie is really nervous and doesn’t know exactly how to feel, but is confident that her fans will keep her around.

Let’s break this down for a second. Simon is worried that if Marcus is in the bottom two that Nicole and Paula will vote him in no matter what. But if it’s Rachel and Melanie in the bottom two, he loses one anyway. He must be pissed right now.

Mary J. Blige is on stage and I’m not sure if you know, but she’s good y’all. And her new album is pretty darn good as well.

Melanie Amaro is through to the top four. So it’s down to Rachel and Marcus. Rachel has so much darn composure for being so young.

How can your heart not bleed for Rachel right now? As much as I like Marcus, he better not boot out Rachel!

Marcus is singing I’m Goin’ Down. He’s doing it for Mary. Marcus is putting tons of emotion into this song, but again, the vocals are lacking and he’s doing lots of screaming. He really needs to find three other dudes and put together a new Jodeci. He’s got K-Ci Hailey down pat.

Rachel is doing it. If Paula and Nicole vote her off, they really need their heads examined.

Of course, LA chooses Rachel to leave and Simon chooses Marcus to leave. Yet again, it’s up to Paula and Nicole. If Simon was truthful about his feelings Wednesday night, he thinks they will send home Rachel. Paula chooses to send home Marcus. Nicole won’t make a decision and is overly dramatic like usual so she kicks off Rachel just to deadlock them. How pitiful and cowardice. Way to not do your job Nicole.

Mr. Anti-charisma reads the act who received the lowest number of votes and Rachel Crow is going home. She breaks down in sobbing fashion. Nicole Scherzinger is an idiot.

  • The X Factor – Who Makes The Top 7?

Last night, Mr. Anti-charisma, Steve Jones said there would be two eliminations tonight. And the judges will only be able to save one. The contestant (or contestants if it’s Lakoda Rayne) who has the least amount of votes will automatically be eliminated. The contestants with the second and third lowest amount of votes will be in the bottom two and have to sing-off for their lives.

I have two worries tonight. One is your young friend and mine, Astro. I lambasted Simon last night for his treatment of Astro from last week on my Popblerd! column. I fear that Simon sabotaged his chances to go any further. My other worry is Drew. She’s in the crossfire between Simon and LA Reid. Simon can’t take it when Reid bags on his contestants, though he’s quite fine bagging on everyone else’s.

But it’s turning LA Reid from a smart judge of talent into someone who is simply trying to get Simon back, and throwing Drew under the bus in the process.

Since the field is narrowing, I chose a top and bottom two, rather than three for last night’s performances. So far, during every week, one of my bottom three went home. We’ll see if I can continue the pace.

    Top 2
    Josh Krajcik and Melanie Amaro

    Bottom 2
    Lakoda Rayne and LeRoy Bell

Kelly Clarkson opens up the show with her new single What Doesn’t Kill You (Stronger). Not a bad little ditty, but there wasn’t much to her performance.

For their group performance, everyone is dressed like a circus performer, and if I was Marcus Canty, I would’ve thrown some punches before they put me on stage like that. He looked like a short-haired girl. I guess the circus theme equated singing Pink’s So What.

Mr. Anti-charisma asks Lakoda Rayne and Drew to come to the stage. One of them is going home and one of them is going through to next week.

Lakoda Rayne is going home. Drew made it through the fire. What the heck does Paula do now?

Bruno Mars is singing It Will Rain from the Twilight movie Breaking Dawn. Sadly, Kristen Stewart isn’t there glumly staring at him like he’s a pasty vampire.

Chris Rene is through! He’s the Teflon Young Homie.

Rachel Crow is also through to next week. As is Josh Krajcik. Well deserved for both.

Melanie Amaro is going through. The last three are Marcus, Astro, and LeRoy. If LeRoy makes it through, we have quite the conundrum for LA Reid.

Astro is in. LeRoy and Marcus have to sing for their X Factor lives.

Marcus is singing first and he’s singing You Lost Me from Christina Aguilera’s much forgotten recent album. I wouldn’t imagine that ballads would be his strong point, but he has a K-Ci Hailey from Jodeci kind of voice for them, without all the rasp.

LeRoy is next up singing Don’t Let Me Down and he did his usual job, which is decently in voice, but just lacking of any confidence whatsoever. I’d guess they’re keeping Marcus, but I’m not confident in that pick.

LA is trying to make a case for his boy Marcus, selling his possible star power. He’s going to send home LeRoy.

You know Nicole is going to stick with her guy. It’s going to be decided between Simon and Paula.

Paula sends home Marcus because she thought LeRoy’s performance tonight was better. I think Simon sends home LeRoy and leaves it up to the vote. We’ll see.

And, that’s exactly what he did. It’s up to the votes now. LeRoy Bell is going home. Nicole is down to one act, but damn, she might have the winning one.

By the way, I hit on both eliminations tonight. I’ll gloat now because it will be impossible to predict from here on out.

  • The X Factor – Who Makes It To The Top 11?

In my X Factor live blog last night for Popblerd, I gave out my top and bottom three based on performances.

    Top 3
Drew, Melanie Amaro, and Stacy Francis

    Bottom 3
    InTENsity, LeRoy Bell, Chris Rene

We’ll see how well I compare to America.

I have never seen any of the X Factor UK elimination shows so I’m not quite sure what will happen tonight. One thing I do know for sure though is that Steve Jones’ nickname should be Mr. Anti-Charisma. Where’s Ryno Seacrest when you need him?

(By the way, last night Drew really knocked it out of the park last night. Check out how she flipped Nelly’s Just A Dream. So creative.)

I was hoping that they wouldn’t do the corny group song and dance ala American Idol, but alas, they are. All 12 are performing together. And LeRoy Bell missed his queue so badly that anyone who was thinking they were singing live just figured out that they weren’t. They should just eliminate him right now and save us an hour. They performed David Guetta/Usher’s Without You by the way.

Also, just like American Idol, there’s a horrendously forced commercial spot. This time, the contestants are trying to pretend that they care about winning the show because not only will they get 5 million dollars, but they’ll also get to be in a Pepsi commercial.

A dude named Outasight is performing a song called Tonight Is The Night, which is also *gasp* the jingle for the Pepsi spot that’s currently playing. I think I’m drinking Coke in protest. The only thing good about Outasight is that I thought he was the host of this show, Mr. Anti-Charisma Steve Jones. Wait, that’d have been a bad thing. Never mind.

Finally, we get to the important stuff. Each mentor walks out on the stage with their peoples. As annoying as Nicole Scherzinger is every second of her life, I have to give it up to her. She looks well tonight.

Jones announces that Marcus Canty is the first one through and he Dougie’s in happiness.

The next person through is Drew.

The third person through is LeRoy Bell. Um, ok.

    Astro is next.

    Lakoda Rayne also makes it.

    Rachel Crow is next through.

Chris Rene also makes it through. All of LA Reid’s fellas are in.

Josh Krajcik makes it as does Melanie Amaro. That means that Simon has all three of his acts into next week.

One more act goes through and the two lowest voted on acts have to sing for their X Factor lives.

Stacy Francis goes through so it’s up to The Stereo Hogzz and InTENsity to battle it out. It’s absolutely amazing that LeRoy Bell had more votes than The Stereo Hogzz. Shame on you America. Shame on you.

The Stereo Hogzz are up first singing some beautiful Bee Gees via Destiny’s Child with Emotions. I guess they wanted to go safe for Paula, rather than in full swag. InTENsity is singing a very scared version of My Life Would Suck Without You (give them a break, they’re kids I say to myself). I can’t see the judges choosing them to go on.

The InTENsity kids look very sad. Simon chooses The Stereo Hogzz to go home. That’s a bit of gamesmanship there. He doesn’t believe InTENsity is better one bit. Not after saying that the Hogzz were one of the greatest groups going today. Paula chooses to send home InTENsity. She knows she won’t win with InTENsity, but has a small chance with the Hogzz. Nicole in the most annoying way possible, says she sends home InTENsity. You know LA isn’t sending home Stereo Hogzz. No way, no how. LA sends home InTENsity. The girl in the red jacket is weeping hard.

One thing I learned about this show is that if the Stereo Hogzz can’t get votes, no group is going to win this thing.
