  • The X Factor – Who Makes The Top Three?

Based solely on vocals, it’s the Josh and Melanie show. They are head and shoulders above Chris and Marcus. But when you take into account stage presence and entertainment value, Chris and Marcus make it a much tighter race. One of them goes home tonight and my guess is Marcus.

Next week is the finals and if I had to choose right now, I think Melanie wins it, with Chris coming in second. There’s no way in hell that Chris should beat Josh in a singing contest, but he’s just a much more likable person with tons more charisma.

Mr. Anti-charisma lets us know that Nicole is performing tonight. Maybe that means we don’t have to deal with her as much as a mentor tonight.

There’s something that I’ve always wondered about. When the mentors are introduced, they all have some way of saying hi to the audience. LA does a kiss salute thing, Nicole does a submissive bow, Paula does the same kiss salute that LA does, and Simon winks and salutes. Did they decide at the beginning of the season that they would always say hi to the crowd in the same way? Are they that uncomfortable that they can’t switch it up. Why doesn’t one of them switch it up and cup their ear like Hulk Hogan?

The final four perform Blackstreet’s No Diggity. This is actually Marcus’ calling. If only he was born 15 years earlier. He could’ve been K-Ci Hailey, Sisqo, and one of the dudes from 112 all in one. Chris actually starts his verse too early and it throws the entire group off. Josh looks so uncomfortable singing this song.

Florence + the Machine are performing tonight. Flo starts with her back to the audience and gives us more of a back shot than J. Lo did at any point on American Idol. They are singing Spectrum, which includes the lyric, “Say my name.” Beyonce did a double take before figuring out they weren’t covering Destiny’s Child.

Of course, the Teflon Don Chris Rene made it through first, like he always does. Melanie Amaro joins him in the finals. Josh Krajcik and Marcus Canty are in the bottom two, but it’s put to the audience vote. There is no singing for lives tonight.

Josh says he has a lot of hope. Marcus just wants America to give him a chance.

It’s Nicole’s turn to sing. The girl has a decent set of pipes. She’s just annoying as hell.

Melanie thanks all the voters and Chris loves all his young homies.

And the last contestant going into the finals is Josh Krajcik. Marcus Canty is no longer.

Next week a winner is crowned.

  • The X Factor – Who Makes The Top Four?

I didn’t find Wednesday’s show all that noteworthy. You could maybe say that it was the first time all season long that Josh Krajcik looked like he could go home. Also noticeable was the pandering all the mentors did so that their finalists wouldn’t get kicked off. Simon nearly outright said that Paula and Nicole wouldn’t vote for his female finalists if they were in the final two so that America needed to vote for them. It was quite odd, but probably truthful.

Based on last night, here’s my top 2 and bottom 2:

    Top 2
    Melanie Amaro and Chris Rene

    Bottom 2
    Josh Krajcik and Marcus Canty

Chris Rene is either pulling the wool over our eyes, or he really has something. His vocals are average at best, yet he comes off so sincere and likable, which is carrying him through this season even though it might be slightly undeserving.

Lenny Kravitz opens the show. My man is 47 years old, yet looks like he’s in his mid-30s. I love it when artists play their new single which gets tepid applause because no one knows it, so they have to sing one of their more popular songs so that they get that ovation at the end. Lenny did that one perfectly.

It’s always sad when Mr. Anti-charisma introduces the mentors and their finalists and Paula has to sit at the mentor’s table all by her lonesome.

Let’s get to it. The first person through to next week is Josh Krajcik, so last night didn’t hurt him at all.

The second person through to next week is Chris Rene. Every time Chris goes through, Simon gives a face that says, “I can’t believe this guy is still around.”

Rachel says she’s not confident, but she loves her fans. Marcus says he’ll just have to step up if need be. Melanie is really nervous and doesn’t know exactly how to feel, but is confident that her fans will keep her around.

Let’s break this down for a second. Simon is worried that if Marcus is in the bottom two that Nicole and Paula will vote him in no matter what. But if it’s Rachel and Melanie in the bottom two, he loses one anyway. He must be pissed right now.

Mary J. Blige is on stage and I’m not sure if you know, but she’s good y’all. And her new album is pretty darn good as well.

Melanie Amaro is through to the top four. So it’s down to Rachel and Marcus. Rachel has so much darn composure for being so young.

How can your heart not bleed for Rachel right now? As much as I like Marcus, he better not boot out Rachel!

Marcus is singing I’m Goin’ Down. He’s doing it for Mary. Marcus is putting tons of emotion into this song, but again, the vocals are lacking and he’s doing lots of screaming. He really needs to find three other dudes and put together a new Jodeci. He’s got K-Ci Hailey down pat.

Rachel is doing it. If Paula and Nicole vote her off, they really need their heads examined.

Of course, LA chooses Rachel to leave and Simon chooses Marcus to leave. Yet again, it’s up to Paula and Nicole. If Simon was truthful about his feelings Wednesday night, he thinks they will send home Rachel. Paula chooses to send home Marcus. Nicole won’t make a decision and is overly dramatic like usual so she kicks off Rachel just to deadlock them. How pitiful and cowardice. Way to not do your job Nicole.

Mr. Anti-charisma reads the act who received the lowest number of votes and Rachel Crow is going home. She breaks down in sobbing fashion. Nicole Scherzinger is an idiot.

  • The X Factor – Who Makes The Top Five?

Before we get into the show, I learned that Paula Abdul and Chris Rene are linked in some odd way. I have a friend who has met Paula Abdul before. If you know me or read me at all, you know I’m a huge Paula fan. So what if she didn’t have a fantastic voice. She was a huge pop star at one time and I wanted to marry her.

The way my friend knows Paula is that her aunt (who has been in a few things herself) and Paula used to be best friends. I’ve seen photographical evidence. My friend’s aunt is Chris Rene’s cousin. So back in the day, little Chris and Paula may have crossed paths. Why is that at all meaningful? Well, maybe when my friend and I go to LA, we’ll “run into” Paula and now Chris. Maybe I’ll get to sing background on the Young Homie remix. Okay, onto the show.

It was Michael Jackson night last night. Tito, Marlon, Jackie, Mama Katharine, Prince, Paris, and mean-muggin’ Blanket were all there. Where was greasy Jermaine?

If you didn’t see last night’s show, you can get the recap on Popblerd.

Based on last night, here’s my top 2 and bottom 2:

    Top 2
    Melanie Amaro and Astro

    Bottom 2
    Drew and Marcus

I’ve been on a roll in picking who goes home, but I’m not quite confident now. With two more going home tonight, we’ll be down to five. I think Drew is caught in the crossfire of the Simon/LA turf war and it could be her undoing. And I just think Marcus’ lack of vocals are catching up with him. His charisma may possibly get him through though.

The finalists are performing Man In The Mirror. Let’s just say that Chris Rene struggled. My man is out there without a life jacket when he has to hit certain notes.

We’re getting right to at least one of the eliminations. It’s quite apparent who is running the show. LA and Simon still have all of their finalists left. Poor Paula.

Chris Rene, the Teflon Don is through to next week.

Melanie Amaro is also through to next week.

Rachel Crow is also through to next week. Marcus, Astro, Drew, and Josh are still on the chopping block. Only one of them is completely safe from elimination. Drew looks terrified. Astro is swaggin’ it out. Marcus says he’s staying strong. And Josh is a little nervous.

Tinie Tempah is performing tonight. If you watched WrestleMania or any of the baseball playoffs this year, you heard his big single, Written In The Stars.

His performance consists of him jumping in place. If you can’t rap better than Astro, I’m not sure you should be on the stage on this show. Then again, my man sold millions of his single, so I guess he deserves to be there. At least he got Nicole and Paula to shut up and dance. Whoops, I mean stand up and dance.

And Josh Krajcik is through. Well, my bottom two are in the bottom three. I really hope Astro gets through, but at this point, if Drew doesn’t make it, it’s entirely LA and Simon’s fault. And she’s already crying.

And it’s Astro who is a goner. You can blame that one on Simon for two weeks ago. Blood on your hands Simon!

I would imagine that my man is tied up with whatever Sony record label they are working with. LA should definitely be involved in the making of his record and call in his friends. I think it could be a decent sized success.

Drew is up first to sing for her X Factor life with Listen To Your Heart. Based on her first few lines, vocally, this is going to be a complete mismatch. Marcus is going to have to get on his knees and beg. Drew is killing it on her way to next week. LA may lose two of his guys on the same show.

Marcus has those “I’m done” eyes. What’s interesting is that Paula and Nicole have to make the decision. They both seem to be huge Marcus fans. But Marcus’ voice is just cracking all over the place. There’s no way he should make it.

Predictably, LA is sending home Drew.

Simon says it’s his fault that Drew is in the bottom because he has presented her wrong. He’s sending home Marcus. Simon cut a really nice “save Drew” promo. The guy is a master.

Nicole says that based on the song each just performed, she’s sending home Drew. Nicole is deaf. Marcus was terrible.

Paula says the save me song has to move her and she sends home Drew. Paula is not on my good list anymore. Nicole is deaf. Paula is blind. They’re both dumb. Game over. Simon and LA should be ashamed of themselves, but so should Paula and Nicole. The vote was in their hands.
