  • Friday Throwback – Falling

Most know Montell Jordan for his party anthem This Is How We Do It. In fact, my friend just sent me that YouTube video the other day for no reason other than to pump herself up. It’s become that iconic party anthem. But Montell Jordan didn’t only have one song. On his second album More…, the 6’8 Jordan released Falling as the second single (if you count I Like as the first). It’s probably my favorite Jordan song of them all.

    • I think that’s Krayzie Bone by the way, and the version of this song that I really like is the one that he’s not on.
    • What do the sirens signify?
    • Did Montell really have to match the lenses in his sunglasses with the color of his shirt?
    • “I dial your number on the phone, it’s steady ringing, you’re not home.” Where’s Mr. Telephone Man when you need him?
    • I wish I could get my sideburns to do that.
    • Now why is Krayzie Bone in jail?
    • I think I’d fall for that girl too, especially if she can look like that while still eating Hagen Daz.
  • Friday Throwback – Step By Step

I’m not ashamed to say that I’m a New Kids On The Block fan. Ok, maybe just a little bit ashamed. But still, having a younger sister in the late 80s-early 90s meant that you either hated the New Kids vociferously, or that you let the catchy music embed itself in your ears. And the latter happened to me, though after their fall from their pop star perch. This is probably my favorite New Kids track of them all.

    • Holy cow, look at that hair!
    • I’m not too sure about Jordan trying to break dance with those superfly clothes.
    • Ok, the choreography on the stairs was pretty corny.
    • And what’s up with stealing New Edition’s dance moves?
    • Look at Donnie wearing the Public Enemy shirt.
    • I think I could get my hair like Jordan’s if I tried.
    • Is that what Danny did? Just lifted weights while everyone else was singing?
    • Did I hear a fiddle?
    • Step 1, we can have lots of fun …
    • A Marky Mark sighting!
  • Friday Throwback – Whatzupwitu

Everyone knows Party All The Time right? Well, Eddie Murphy came back to the scene with an album in 1993. It was interesting because it had a pretty stellar cast at the time. He was able to get a ton of artists to sing one word on the song Yeah like MC Hammer, Stevie Wonder, Luther Vandross, and Janet and Michael Jackson. He had Shabba Ranks on lead single I Was A King which was terrible and then Michael Jackson again on Whatzupwitu, which was bad as well, but still fun at the same time.

    – Why is Ed in a wife beater? Probably to show off his new physique. Though I wasn’t really impressed with that double bicep shot.

    – I couldn’t really see Mike’s lipstick in black and white, but when the picture went color, bam, it hit me right in the face.

    – Why is Ed singing into Mike’s ear?

    – I actually like the song without the video, but the video is so bad that I’m starting to hate this song.

    – For the last half of that video I had so many things to say, but my fingers just couldn’t type them.

If I see Ed and Mike in the same room again, I’d ask them, “Whatzupwitu?”
