  • American Idol Season 8 – Please End The Show On Time Tonight

After last night’s debacle where anyone who wasn’t watching live and was DVRing the show missed Adam Lambert’s performance, they better have something good up their sleeve tonight.

Ryno Seacrest put a YouTube video of the performance up on his blog, but of course, it was taken down. Even Ryno Seacrest can’t put one over on the YouTube police.

(By the way, it’s getting really hard to put one over the YouTube police these days.)

    Kellie Pickler and Kid Rock

Seacrest is out already promising performances from Flo Rida and Kellie Pickler. Remember how I said they better have something good up their sleeve tonight? Well, it’s already a fail. Next you’re going to tell me that Allison is leaving tonight. She better not be.

After all the timing issues they had last night, they decided to bring out Frankie Avalon to sing. Three performances tonight?

On Ryno’s Twitter page, he posted this comment:

Frankie avalon almost didn’t go on because he had an allergic reaction…paramedics were called. Close call but we love him!

You can follow our Twitter feed here.

Looks like Frankie was ok. You couldn’t tell anything was wrong when he was on stage.

For some reason, the group song is Kylie Minogue’s Can’t Get You Out Of My Head. Only Adam really seemed at home singing that song. I’m guessing he knows it by heart.

Ryan asks Adam, Anoop, and Kris to stand up.

Randall says that Adam was the bomb last night. Kara and Paula loved him as well. Adam is safe. Kris is safe and Anoop is in the bottom three.

Flo Rida is on stage performing something resembling music. I understood why Kanye West was singing horribly on this show a few weeks ago. He’s a superstar and probably brought some extra eye balls. I didn’t quite get Lady Gaga, only because she’s not a superstar yet. She was just opening up for the New Kids On The Block during their concert run earlier last summer. I absolutely don’t get why Flo Rida is on my TV. This ain’t 106 & Park. And my name ain’t AJ. Thankfully I was able to fast forward through most of that.

Someone needs to steroid test that dude too.

Danny and Matt are safe. Scottie Mac is next. And he’s in the bottom three. The last person in the bottom three is between Allison and Lil. Lil is in the bottom three.

At least you can give America credit for getting the bottom three right this week.

Simon says there’s one contestant in the bottom three who they’d think about saving.

Kellie comes out and sings a nice little ditty. Is it me or is she trying very hard to look like Carrie Underwood?

Lil Rounds is safe. Either Scottie Mac or Anoop Doggy Dog is going home tonight.

Anoop is safe and Scottie Mac has to sing for his American Idol life.

I highly doubt that he’s going to be saved, but you have to give the guy credit. He wasn’t only liked because he was the feel good story of the season. He was liked because he had a great sense of humor about everything and showed a ton of humility and class on that stage when some of those contestants take themselves way too seriously.

Simon says two of the judges think he should stay and two think he can go. I’m going to guess that Paula and my wife Kara want him to stay. Simon tells him it’s the end of the road for him.

How can you not like that guy? Even though I won’t miss him as a performer, I’ll miss him as a guy to root for.

Carrie Underwood sings him back to home sweet home.

  • American Idol Season 8 – Who Is Headed Home Sweet Home?

Why is Jason Castro sitting next to Alexis Grace in the audience? I didn’t think I’d have to see those dread locks again until the end of this season.

Why is Lady GaGa on this show tonight? I know she’s hot on the charts, but I don’t know anyone who has the album.

Why hasn’t Kara DioGuardi returned my phone calls yet?

Ok, just kidding on that last question. (She returned them.) But the first two are real questions. Someone please answer them for me.

The top 9 are singing Don’t Stop Believing. Scott is rockin’ out on the keyboard and if you didn’t know this was pre-taped and then lip synced, you know now. Scott was singing but was nowhere near the microphone. Someone should’ve held it for him. It was actually a pretty good version of the song.

Megan is wearing a dress that resembles red overalls. I don’t think it’s made by Osh Kosh B’Gosh.

For five minutes, Ryno had some of the contestants do impersonations of each other. None of them were all that good, but at least they were having a good time. Ryno also mentioned that this group of Idol contestants get along better than any others in history. You mean Ruben and Clay weren’t really brothers from another mother? Really?

Ryno tells Megan, Matt, and Kris to stand up and makes them walk toward the left side of the stage.

He tells Adam, Allison, and Lil Rounds to walk toward the center of the stage.

And the final three have to walk toward the right side of the stage. It looks like one of the three groups is the bottom three.

David Cook is on stage performing Come Back To Me. I’ve added the actual video to the song below.

They also presented him with his platinum album.

Ryno just told Kris to sit down.

Matt was told to sit down, but thought he was in the bottom three. He April Fools’d himself.

Megan is in the bottom three and for some reason squawked like a bird and flapped her arms.

    Lil Rounds is safe.

Allison is in the bottom three as well. She doesn’t deserve to be there. But Megan does.

Adam is safe and they showed a shot of his friends. One guy had a wickedly bad mohawk.

    Danny is safe.

It’s down to Scott and Anoop.

Randall says judging on last night, Anoop deserves to be in the bottom three. Anoop agrees for some reason. Anoop predicted correctly. He’s in the bottom three.

Lady GaGa is performing Poker Face. Nope, I don’t get her just yet. Here’s her actual video to this song.

Allison was sent back with the rest of the group. She’s safe. So it’s either Anoop Doggy Dogg or Megan who will go home.

It’s hasta la bye bye to Megan. Simon says they won’t even bother watching her sing before telling her they won’t save her. For some reason, she’s actually loose while performing. Still goofy, but at least she’s looser. I’m not sure she can necessarily feel the rhythm. But it’s ok. She’s going to be cute for at least another 15 years. She can live off that.

She tells her son that she’s coming home. Carrie Underwood sings her home sweet home.

    Goodbye Megan Joy!

  • Friday Throwback – Word To The Mutha

New Edition took a hiatus from recording as a group after the Heart Break album (though Bob was already gone) and decided to all go their own way musically. Bobby had already done it with great success, but now it was Johnny and Ralph’s turn. The three remaining cats (Micheal Bivins, Ronnie Devoe, and Ricky Bell) formed Bell Biv Devoe, or just BBD. All were successes in their own right, but BBD hit with that hip hop smoothed out on the R&B tip with a pop feel appeal to it. They had a song on their Poison album that shouted out their NE family. The NE family got back together to record the remix to Word To The Mutha.

    • It took BBD to get the band back together
    • Those are some wacky outfits – come on Ron, long sleeve button up with a tie, some shorts and a hat?
    • What’s up with Biv making out with baby girl and then wiping it on his sleeve? Was that Free?
    • Poor Johnny G – he sings the intro and then you only see him smiling the rest of the way
    • “Oh no she’s a candy girl, living in a half crazy world, that’s the way I’m livin’ girl, and every little step I take is another NE Heartbreak, my, my, my”
    • Ralph T and Bob can rap and they can do it better than Biv and Devoe.
    • Why is Bob so angry and throwing stuff?

New Edition would eventually come back together for Home Again and tear it up until they had to kick Bob out of the group again. They came back a couple years ago on Diddy’s Bad Boy label with One Love but Diddy didn’t really do anything with it. Maybe they’ll bounce back yet again? Who knows, but just like two brothers, it’s word to the mutha.
