Looking for a little motivation this Monday morning? Look no further than this terrific live performance by Philadelphia’s The Roots, on the David Letterman show in 2006. The song is “Here I Come”, one of the highlights of their album Game Theory, which is, to my mind, their best.
Just last week, I wrote about The Roots and John Legend teaming up for a new album called Wake Up Everybody. I also embedded a song from The Roots new album How I Got Over called The Fire, which features John Legend.
Now, that song has a video. Questlove tweeted out this message earlier today:

Wake Up EverybodyIt’s been a few weeks since I last heard about a soulful project being cooked up by John Legend and The Roots. As it turns out, it’s a cover album of old soul songs called Wake Up!, which is supposed to drop sometime in the fall.

The Roots/John Legend combination is also featured on the new (and soon to be classic) Roots album How I Got Over. On Doin’ It Again, the Roots sample Legend’s voice from his 2006 track Again, and then feature him on their latest single, The Fire.
