  • Drake Brings Out Two Greats For OVO Fest

Drake held the OVO (October’s Very Own) Fest in his hometown Toronto over the weekend with guests like Young Jeezy, Rick Ross, Fabolous, and Bun B. But he saved the best for last.

After Drake rapped his opening verse from Forever, out came Eminem, who he called the greatest of all time.

And then Jay-Z came out to do a verse from Run This Town. Drake has stated before that Jay-Z is the most influential MC in his life.

Both superstars are getting ready for a couple of concerts they’re doing together in Detroit and New York in September.

  • What Will Drake Sell First Week With His Debut Album “Thank Me Later”?

    Thank Me Later
Only two rappers have ever crossed the 1 million sales mark during the first week of their release in Soundscan history. Those two rappers are Eminem, who did it twice, and Lil’ Wayne who did it with Tha Carter III.

Just two weeks ago when Drake’s Thank Me Later was leaked, people were talking as if Drake would join that exclusive club.

However, talk of the 1 million club has subsided a bit, and expectations are a bit more realistic now that the album is officially out. I have gone on record as saying that I think he crosses the 500,000 mark.

Rapper The Game thinks that he’ll sell 650,000 according to an article on MTV.com.

    Game said:

You think he ain’t gonna go out there and push over gold the first week? I got [him selling] over 650,000 first week. That’s what I’m giving Drake: 650, man. Every now and then, a man comes along and reshapes hip-hop; this is the dude for this time. I came out, my first album, 590,000. I feel he got a bigger buzz than I did. When I came out, everybody else was still poppin’. Right now … he’s just coming down. I got my album coming, Tip coming, Ross coming, but everybody is on their Drake stuff — even me. Dude is good, man.

What does everyone else think? We’ll know next week how hot Drake really is when the numbers are announced. Until then, it’s just guesses.

  • We Are The World – 25 For Haiti Update

Though we don’t have all the details of the new We Are The World song, some details are trickling out.

Here are some of the things which I have heard or read:

    – Justin Bieber is supposedly singing Lionel’s opening line. “There comes a time…” Don’t you need bass in your voice to sing that part?

    – Lil’ Wayne is scheduled to sing Bob Dylan’s original part and he thought they were playing a joke on him when told him.

    – Celine Dion is going to sing Cyndi Lauper’s part, which is one of the more famous parts of the original video. I don’t think she’ll have the wacky hair though unfortunately.

    – Janet Jackson was rumored to be singing Michael Jackson’s bridge, but there’s also talk that MJ’s voice will be used somehow. Maybe MJ’s “shalah-shalingay” chorus that he recorded for the demo will finally see the light of day?

    – Hip hop will be represented in the new version. Some of the rumored stars include T-Pain, Kanye West, Bizzy Bone, Kid Cudi, LL Cool J, Snoop Dogg, Drake, Mann, Nipsey Hussle, Busta Rhymes and Swizz Beatz. Don’t ask me who Mann and Nipsey Hussle are because I have no clue.

    – We may see the premiere of the video on the first day of the Winter Olympics.

MTV.com has some video of the Monday night recording session which I’ve added below.
